A Musician’s Stroll Through the 18th Century

  • Madison Avenue Christian Church 1530 Madison Avenue Covington, Kentucky, 41011 United States (map)

This recital is an exploration of the 18th century classical soundscape, focusing on the development of repertoire surrounding the cello. We’ll start solo with Bach’s Cello Suite no. 4 in E-flat Major, and then gradually size up to Geminiani’s Cello Sonata no. 3 in C Major. After a short intermission, we’ll have a grand finale of Haydn’s Cincinnati-sourced Esterházy orchestra (budget sized) performing his Cello Concerto no. 2 in D Major.

In the spirit of exploring 18th century soundscapes, Joanna has invited some friends and colleagues from CCM to join for this recitals program: Ying-Jhu Gong and Lauren Geerlings on violin, En-Hui Hsieh and Juliette Mikautadze on viola, Krish Subramanian and Elliott Watras on cello, and Maksym Mahlay on harpsichord.

Tickets are not required for this event.
